Reception Lighting rooms in office are usually the point of entry
of business or professional or institutional commercial placeor typically, the
Reception Lighting room is a place for visitors to be acknowledged and
to wait to be seen and served.
Reception Lighting conveys a professional lighting, corporate lighting, or institutional image and sets the stage
for the remainder of the interior space lighting.
Reception Lighting rooms range tremendously in size from a few number of seats and a glass
panel through which visitors can speak to a greeter who works in an adjacent
space to awaiting area with dozens of seats and an open Reception Lighting desk with one
or more greeters.
The point of Reception Lighting can vary from a simple desk that serves
only as a point of greeting to a Reception designers’s workstation requiring a large work
surface, files and storage space. Many business and institutional office Reception Lighting designer
rooms have an element of display—perhaps a simple logo highlighted on a wall,
an extensive display of products, or certificates, awards, or current work. In general,
major entrances, including lobbies and Reception Lighting areas, present an important
opportunity to use lighting designer to express image and similar ideas.
A few basic illumania design & visual tasks are served in most Reception Lighting rooms. Some concentration
of light should focus on the Reception Lighting station in order to visually guide
first visitors to it. Task light at the Reception Lighting desk should be geared to the
Reception Lightingist’s work functions, from a simple reading of paperwork to additional
functions such as filing or proofreading. Ambient light is needed for general
navigation throughout the space at a level appropriate for personal conversation
and the casual reading of a news paper or magazine. Focal light design may be needed
to visually accent a company image, a display of company-related material, or
other art/graphics lighting works.
